PROJECT GOAL
This project focused on rebranding Harbors Edge, a mock restaurant service hosted on the JWU Harborside campus. With sweeping views of Narragansett Bay through a wall of windows, the space offered a unique atmosphere that the existing branding failed to capture. Our task was to design a new logo and menu system that better reflected the restaurant’s elevated aesthetic, with deliverables to be used in future restaurant service events at Harbors Edge.

CONCEPT
To immerse ourselves in the environment, our team was invited to attend a restaurant service as guests. This firsthand experience allowed us to observe the space, take visual inspiration, and evaluate the existing branding. We quickly agreed that a full redesign was necessary due to outdated visuals and poor color matching. Each team member developed individual logo concepts—my teammate explored a vintage, illustrative direction, while I leaned into a modern, monochrome style.
My concept was ultimately selected: a sailboat graphic with a chef’s knife cleverly integrated into one of the sails. I drew the color palette directly from photos I took on-site, grounding the design in the restaurant’s physical space. After experimenting with layout, I incorporated the required “JWU” text by setting it in large, low-opacity type behind the sailboat, merging it seamlessly with the overall composition. While my teammate led the menu layout design, I contributed to the final production stage by typesetting and formatting 16 individual menus within the new template.
